WHY IT'S AWESOME? Jasper is one of the most popular stones used throughout history. Jasper dates back to the 4th and 5th millennium BC. There are references to Jasper in the bible. and of its abundant use in Medieval times. Some cultures believed that Jasper could heal a soul that was possessed by the devil. Wearing green jasper in the 4th century was used as a remedy for snake bites. There are ancient tools made from jasper which include arrowheads, scrapers, knives, axes and stone drills.

WHAT IS BLUE SPOT JASPER?
Like all Jasper, Blue Spot Jasper is a type of chalcedony, which is a cryptocrystalline form of silica that is composed of moganite and the very fine intergrowths of quartz. The patterns vary according to where the jasper comes from as each unique one is formed from a consolidation of natural elements in the original silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. There is an infusion of minerals, vegetative growth, weathering and time that all play their role in the various types of jasper we see. Some varieties of jasper have banding, others look like pictures, others are spotted. Jasper is an exciting addition to any rock collector as there are so many varieties, each with its unique character.

WHERE IS IT FOUND? Jasper gemstones can be found in many locations around the world. Some of the most notable deposits are sourced from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia, Uruguay, Venezuela and the United States of America, including Arizona, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
